Team Up OKC

Did you know that 90% of the students in Oklahoma City Public Schools (not suburbs like Edmond, Yukon or Moore) live in or at the poverty level? That’s over 38,000 kids who come from struggling families. Over 1,700 are homeless.
One of every three teachers spends more than $1,000 of their own money on supplies for their students. These students and teachers need our help. Well educated students are vital to all of our futures.
OKC’s business community is coming together again to team up with The Foundation for Oklahoma City Public Schools to collect much needed supplies for metro area students. This effort is the 2nd annual Team Up OKC School Supply Drive, November 1st - 15th.
Collected items will be donated to The Teachers Warehouse, a program that provides free classroom supplies and equipment to Oklahoma City Public Schools teachers. More information about The Teachers Warehouse can be found at okckids.com/tw.
Along with corporate sponsors and collection boxes all the metro, Team Up OKC has challenged the members of the AMAOKC to collect supplies as part of a friendly “Communications Professionals Challenge”. For information and rules, click here.
Advertising, marketing and PR pros can donate classroom items for a shot at a trophy, prizes and bragging rights for being named “AMA’s Biggest Supporter of OKC Public Schools”. There are three catagories: Agency, In-house and Individual.
So let the trash talk begin! No matter who gets the trophy, the students of metro Oklahoma City will be the real winners.
