Susan G. Komen for the Cure – April 8

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you see 14,000 runners wearing pink? Of course it’s the annual Race for the Cure! The Susan G. Komen for the Cure® organization has essentially trademarked the color pink… That’s effective marketing.

AMA OKC is proud to welcome Karen Hughes White, Director of Corporate Relations for The Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. What began as one woman’s  promise to her sister who was battling breast cancer has led to this amazing organization that is now positioned as the global leader of the breast cancer movement with worldwide recognition.

Locally, the annual Race for the Cure garners more than 14,000 participants in October to celebrate breast cancer survivors, honor those who have lost the battle and bring awareness of the disease.

You won’t want to miss this inspiring presentation that highlights how this nonprofit has succeeded in raising awareness to a new level.

Karen oversees corporate sponsorship for the organization’s sports properties, including the Komen Race for the Cure®, the world’s largest series of 5K walk/runs and the Komen 3-Day for the Cure®. Karen also oversees Komen’s corporate partnerships in the consumer packaged goods, automotive and financial services categories, working with such notables as General Mills, Yoplait, Ford and Bank of America.

Southwest Airlines – March 11

We are absolutely “nuts” about our March speaker! Grab your bags and attend the AMA OKC meeting March 11!

The sky’s the limit for Southwest Airlines regarding their social media success, and a large part of that success is attributed to their Online Spokesperson and Emerging Media Specialist, Christi Day. In addition to her online media relations duties, Christi works as the “voice” behind the Southwest Airlines Twitter account (@Southwestair) and as a moderator and blogger on “Nuts About Southwest” (www.blogsouthwest.com). Southwest currently has more than one million followers.

Her presentation will include sharing tips of how she creates positive buzz for Southwest Airlines and how to have fun with social media to ensure your company’s personality is presented effectively.

We would “luv” for you to join us!

Samuel Gordon Jewelers, another great example of fun and effective social media success, will be on hand to give away a $1,000 diamond at the meeting! You can follow them on Twitter: (@DanGordon and @SamuelGordonJewelers) and on their FaceBook fan page.
