Did you marketing campaign have a Major Impact?
It’s that time of year where the best marketing campaigns in Oklahoma are lauded in our Excellence In Marketing Awards.
We’ve had a record number of quality entries this year which made the job of the judges extremely difficult. However, winners have emerged and those campaigns which had a major impact will be announced at the next meeting, Thursday June 11.
We are extremely happy to announce that our emcee for the luncheon is back by popular demand. Drew Schroeder of “Drew and Kaci Too” from KYIS-FM’s afternoon show will be hosting this years event and we’re extremely excited about welcoming him back.
As always, RSVP in advance for the event if you can – it helps us out immensely.

Google? Any one heard of them?
On May 14, AMAOKC will be holding a sell-out luncheon (RSVP, quick!). Our only guest to date to be considered a verb, Google, will be in Oklahoma City to share unique marketing insight with us.
Google’s John Black will talk about Measuring Up In A Downtime – How To Build An Effective Brand Online.
With the right approach and resources, a downturn can actually provide opportunities for savvy marketer.
Learn about media consumption trends, opportunities, strategies and Google tools that can help you reveal opportunity and achieve your goals. John will be serving up easy ways to get started and excel in online marketing (search engine, display and more) to get optimal visibility and more people talking about your business.
We would recommending registering as early as possible to avoid disappointment. Join us at the Will Rogers Theater from 11:30 to 1:00 on May 14.
If you can’t chat with John at the luncheon, the good news is that John will be joining us for the AMAOKC sponsored OKCtweetup after work!

The OKC Tweetup is going from good to great! Sponsors are coming in thick and fast – the full list to date will published shortly.
We’re really excited to see Oklahoma marketers taking such a great interest in social media. It’s for reasons like this that Oklahoma City is becoming the city that others aspire to be.
With that being said, we encourage people to register for this event as soon as possible – this really is going to be a big deal.
The Details
The OKC TweetUp is a chance for Oklahoma marketing professionals to come to together to discuss the power of social media, including the microblog Twitter, in a casual and informal setting. AMAOKC and the OKC Tweetup folks are combining forces to bring AMA members this fun social event.
Join us for food, drinks and engaging conversation after work. You will get the chance to visit with Google’s John Black, your fellow AMA members and marketing professionals who use Twitter and other social media tools to promote their businesses.
This event will be held at the Iguana Mexican Grill on Thursday, May 14. The event is free to attend. We are expecting a huge turnout, so register as soon as possible.
There are still plenty of sponsorship opportunities – if you are interested then please contact Kevin Jessop.

We just wanted to pass on our congratulations to our current chapter President, Julie Boyd, and her husband, Justin, on the birth of their daughter.

Already promoting the Pokes - a strong marketing career awaits
Makenzie Boyd was born on Thursday, March 26 at 2:59pm. The healthy little tyke is doing extremely well and is keeping mom on her toes. Makenzie’s rule about having no more sleep that three hours at a time is being strictly enforced. Julie now refers to resting from 2.00 to 6.00am as being a “good night’s sleep.”
We’re looking forward to welcoming Julie back at the May 14 meeting, and sincerely hope she manages to get some shut-eye between now and then.

After years of proving we have what it takes to play in the big leagues, OKC welcomed it’s first NBA team and dubbed them the Thunder.
Join AMA OKC as we hear from the Thunder’s senior VP of ticket sales, Brian Byrnes, on March 12. Brian oversees the Thunder’s marketing group and has worked in professional sports for over 17 years. One of Brian’s colleagues told us “he knows the business better than anyone I’ve ever had the pleasure of working for.”
Click on the RSVP link at the top of the page to let us know you’ll be there. We promise you won’t want to miss Brian’s presentation, the great give-aways he’s bringing and a possible visit from a surprise guest…
